THE BEST TIME TO VISIT AGIOS PROKOPIOS. Naxos is also prone to the summer northern winds (called Meltemia), which can make the most popular parts of the island, including Agios Prokopios beach, extremely windy.. During our visit in June and early July, we enjoyed both sides of the wind - most days in June were calm and wonderful, but as the weather warmed, the winds increased.

Locals call it the best beach on Naxos and that title attracts the crowds of people. To cater for all the peoplr there are sunbeds (for hire), beach sellers and, just behind the bar, shops.

Ag. Prokopios, Ag. Anna nad Plaka are all walking distance from each other. I often walked from Ag. Prokopios to as far as Orkos and back. If you do not like your nearest beach, walk further away. Do not forget to take your own umbrella - it is not all organised and there is no natural shade with the exception of a couple of trees near Orkos.
